John Lewis's most recent advert entitled “Tableau,” was filmed on the St George's Playing Fields in Raynes Park.

John Lewis has embarked on a media campaign to commemorate the milestone of 100 years since the introduction of its iconic “Never Knowingly Undersold” (NKU) promise, which was first established in 1925. This promise has long been a cornerstone of the brand's commitment to value and customer satisfaction.

The campaign, aptly dubbed “Tableau,” was by the renowned advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi. It serves not only as a tribute to the century-old promise but also as a celebration of the rich and diverse tapestry that constitutes modern British life. Through this campaign, John Lewis aims to highlight the myriad experiences and stories that shape the nation, showcasing the brand's deep connection to its customers and the communities it serves.

Directed by the Australian filmmaker Kim Gehrig, the centerpiece of the campaign is a single-shot film that captures a dynamic and engaging narrative. This film is set to a contemporary rendition of ‘The Beat Goes On,’ a classic track that has been reimagined by musician Mike Skinner.

The film not only aims to entertain but also seeks to convey a powerful message about the enduring relevance of John Lewis in today’s fast-paced society. As it takes viewers on a journey through 100 years of British life, it reflects on the changes, challenges, and triumphs that have defined the nation over the past century. By weaving together various moments from history, culture, and everyday experiences, the campaign illustrates how John Lewis has continuously adapted and evolved, remaining a beloved and trusted retailer throughout the decades.
